High-Speed Steel Rolls

Roll is an important part of the rolling mill in a steel rolling mill, using a pair or a group of rolls to roll the pressure generated when rolling steel. It is mainly subjected to rolling dynamic and static load, wear and temperature changes.

Rolling Mill Rolls is divided into two kinds of hot rolls and cold rolls.

Commonly used materials for cold rolls include 9cr, 9cr2, 9crv, 8crmov, etc. Cold rolls require surface quenching and hardness of hs45~105.

The common materials of hot rolls are 55mn2,55cr,60crmnmo,60simnmo,etc. Hot rolls are used in the processing of open billets, thick plates, sections and so on. It is subjected to strong rolling forces, severe wear and thermal fatigue effects, and hot rolls work at high temperatures and allow for diameter wear per unit of workload, so it does not require surface hardness, only high strength, toughness and heat resistance. Hot rolls only use the overall normalization or quenching, surface hardness requirements hb190 ~ 270.

The application of high-speed steel rolls is an important part of the development of modern steel rolling production, which is a major change in the development of the steel industry following the micro-alloying, controlled rolling and cooling technology. High-speed steel rolls have been widely used in the field of plate, section, bar and wire rod rolling production, not only for work rolls, but also for support rolls. The good wear resistance of high speed steel rolls is inseparable from its distinctly different characteristics from traditional rolls.
