In the metallurgical industry, a heating furnace is a device (industrial furnace) that heats materials or workpieces (usually metals) to the temperature of rolling to forging.
Working principle
Heating furnaces include continuous heating furnaces and chamber heating furnaces. The heating furnace for metal heat treatment is also called heat treatment furnace. The furnace that heats the steel ingot before rough rolling or makes the temperature inside the steel ingot uniform is called soaking furnace. Broadly speaking, heating furnaces also include soaking furnaces and heat treatment furnaces.

In forging and rolling production, billets are generally heated in an oxidizing atmosphere with a full combustion flame. Using an incomplete combustion reducing flame (ie “self-protective atmosphere”) to directly heat the metal can achieve the purpose of no oxidation or less oxidation. This heating method is called open flame or open flame non-oxidizing heating, and has been successfully applied to rotary hearth furnaces and chamber furnaces.
