What Is A Rolling Mill?

The rolling mill is the equipment that realizes the metal rolling process, and generally refers to the equipment that completes the whole process of rolling material production.
According to the number of rolls, the rolling mill can be divided into two rolls, four rolls, six rolls, eight rolls, twelve rolls, eighteen rolls, etc.; according to the arrangement of the rolls, it can be divided into “L” type, “T” type, ” F”, “Z” and “S”.
Ordinary rolling mill is mainly composed of roll, frame, roll distance adjustment device, roll temperature adjustment device, transmission device, lubrication system, control system and roll removal device. In addition to the main components and devices of ordinary rolling mills, the precision calendering machine adds a device to ensure the rolling accuracy.

Variety classification
Rolling mills can be classified according to the arrangement and number of rolls, and can be classified according to the arrangement of stands.
Two rolls
Simple structure and wide application. It is divided into reversible and irreversible. The former has blooming mill, rail beam rolling mill, plate rolling mill and so on. The irreversible types include continuous billet rolling mills, stacked sheet rolling mills, sheet or strip cold rolling mills, and skin-pass mills. In the early 1980s, the largest two-high rolling mill had a roll diameter of 1500 mm, a roll body length of 3500 mm, and a rolling speed of 3 to 7 m/s.
Three rolls
The rolling stock is alternately rolled to the left or right from the upper and lower roll gaps, and is generally used as a section steel rolling mill and a rail beam rolling mill. This mill has been replaced by a high-efficiency two-high mill.
Lauter-style three-roller
The upper and lower rolls are driven, the middle roll floats, and the rolling stock passes alternately above or below the middle roll. Due to the small diameter of the middle roll, the rolling force can be reduced. It is often used for rolling rail beams, section steel, medium and heavy plates, and can also be used for billeting of small steel ingots. This mill is gradually replaced by a four-high mill.
